Privacy and data security notice of ADAC e.V.

ADAC e.V. shall be responsible for the contents of this website and the use of the data generated by users in conformity with data protection requirements. Links to the websites of contractual partners and other providers/vendors may be placed on this website, for which ADAC e.V. shall not be responsible (see Disclaimer).

Collecting personal data from our Internet users

In line with the principle of data minimisation, our website collects only the types of personal data listed below:

  • When you access information on this website: no “personal data”.
  • When you review a harbour: Full name, membership no., post code and e-mail address. This data serves to verify the reviewer’s identity. We will publish only your first name and the first letter of your last name as well as the last four digits of your membership number.
  • When you send us an e-mail: at least your name, your sender’s e-mail address and your message as well as other information you volunteer, such as a contact (address, phone number) under which you may want to receive our reply or where we may contact you. Please be aware that, for the time being, the lack of encryption for e-mail communications makes it unsafe for the transmission of confidential information.

How we process our Internet users’ personal data

In just a few cases this website is linked directly to the websites of other contractual partners for which each partner is directly responsible. You will receive a clear warning if you are about to access such websites.

How we use our Internet users’ personal data

ADAC will use any data or information obtained from our members, prospects or visitors during an Internet session strictly within the legal limits for such use. We exclusively use anonymised and pseudonymised visitor data, for purposes including but not limited to marketing and academic research or for advertising campaigns of ADAC e.V. and its subsidiaries.

Storage, deletion and use of cookies

Cookies are small text files placed and stored on the Internet user’s hard drive. They are used to manage your Internet connection during your visit on our web pages. They also provide information helping us to better adapt our web pages to your needs. ADAC uses “session cookies” and “persistent cookies”.

Your rights under the GDPR

In addition to the above-mentioned right to withdraw consent for and object to data processing (see no. 5), the GDPR gives you the rights below, which you can assert against us as the Controllers of your personal data:

Matomo (formerly Piwik)

This website uses the open source web analytics service Matamo. Matomo uses cookies, i.e. text files which are stored on your computer and analyse your use of our website. For this purpose, the information generated by the cookie about the use of this website is stored on our server. The IP address is anonymised before it is stored.

Matomo cookies will remain on your device until you delete them.

The storage of Matomo cookies is based on Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR. The website operator has a legitimate interest in analysing user behaviour in order to optimise both their website and their advertising.

The information about your use of this website generated by the cookies will not be disclosed to third parties. Google reCAPTCHA

We use “Google reCAPTCHA” (hereinafter referred to as “reCAPTCHA”) on our websites. This service is provided by Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheater Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA (“Google”).

reCAPTCHA is used to check whether the data entered on our website (e.g. on a contact form) has been entered by a human or by an automated program. For this purpose, reCAPTCHA analyses the website visitor’s behaviour based on various features. This analysis starts automatically as soon as the website visitor enters the website. For the analysis, reCAPTCHA evaluates various kinds of information (e.g. IP address, how long the visitor has been on the website, or mouse movements made by the user).  The data collected during the analysis is forwarded to Google.

The reCAPTCHA analytics run completely in the background. Website visitors are not advised that such analysis is taking place.

Data processing is based on Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR. The website operator has a legitimate interest in protecting its site from abusive automated crawling and spam.

Plugins and tools

YouTube

Our website uses plugins from Google’s YouTube site. The site is operated by YouTube, LLC, 901 Cherry Ave., San Bruno, CA 94066, USA.

If you visit one of our pages using a YouTube plugin, you will be connected to YouTube’s servers. The Youtube server will be advised which of our pages you have visited.

If you are logged in to your YouTube account, YouTube will be able to link your surfing behaviour directly to your personal profile. You can prevent this by logging out of your YouTube account.

This site uses the Google Maps service via an API. The service is provided by Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheater Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA.
